Distrito Arcos is an open-air commercial destination, installed in the old buildings of what was the railway station of the Palermo neighbourhood. It is located between Juan B. Justo and Santa Fe Av., and Godoy Cruz and Paraguay streets, in the heart of the district.

The shops are covered spaces around an immense central patio with extensive open-air  common areas.

Vegetation and green spaces are the stars in the outdoors, providing a different view for those who enjoy shopping. Integrating the calm produced by nature with the city and its movement, the building offers both a space to get quality products at a good price and a moment of relaxation.

The San Martín train line runs over the arches and the premises, adding the shopping experience with a particular vibration. Noise, movement and passengers are part of the environment of District Bows.

History

Located on the grounds of Bodegas Giol and the former shunting yard of the San Martín Railway, District Arcos was inaugurated on December 18, 2014.

The history of this venture had several twists and turns. In the beginning, the original idea was to build a tall building that would function as a gastronomic pole. However, the project changed its destiny until it ended up in what it is today: a Premium outlet shopping centre.

The work was carried out by Seggiaro Arquitectos. The restoration of the railway structure, made of brick at the beginning of the 20th century, involved the cleaning of the vegetation that grew on the walls. Its heritage value was sadly not taken into account at the time of the post-construction arrangements.

Surrounded by a 1.30m high perimeter dike, to avoid flooding after heavy rains, a plaza and a linear promenade were designed made up of a system of ramps, stairs and paths between gigantic flower beds with 11,170 m2 of leasable area, 60 commercial premises and 115 parking spots. In addition, a space was designed to be a Food Court for more than 700 people.

Design

Arcos District occupies three blocks, where a railroad manoeuvring yard and the Giol Winery storage shed formerly operated. During the work, they aimed to recover the essence of the English railway building and the warehouses, which were adapted for the new destination.

The commercial walk is defined by beautiful green areas, as the central feature of the design. The building is characterised by exposed brick structures of the railway viaduct, which define the interior and exterior urban facades. It has a covered canopy, forming a succession of arches that give a unique rhythm along the perspective. The idea was to preserve the building by making as few changes as possible, to respect its industrial aesthetics. It was intended to take advantage of the emptied arches to make vehicular entrances and the original wooden gates, which were maintained and used as a door to the different premises, where external displays were arranged as stained glass windows.

The shopping village is designed with urban equipment accompanied by gondolas, terraces and pergolas framed in a structure of arches. In the outdoor space, the areas with vegetation are central, making it a perfect place of leisure and enjoyment, as well as an ideal venue for events.

Distrito Arcos is more than a shopping centre with urban design. It is an open-air commercial complex that offers 60 stores of premium brand outlets, 115 parking spaces and 35 sales gondolas. This place offers a unique shopping experience: complementing the excellent discount shopping of quality clothing, you’ll enjoy its architecture and can take a gastronomic tour.

In the outdoor area, spaces full of vegetation and picturesque places, are designed to simply rest and enjoy the sun, both with family and friends.

In addition to the urban equipment, the mall also contains a modern movie theatre where activities for the little ones take place on special dates and celebrations.

The art gallery FOLA, and Latin American Photo Library along with the facilities of a modern gym are also part of the commercial complex.

This open-air shopping centre is prepared for you to circulate without problems with different types of vehicles, such as bicycles, skateboards, baby strollers and more. It has ramps, wide spaces to circulate freely and bike parking racks.

Distrito Arcos has security within the property so that in any situation you can turn to someone from the security staff to help you.
