Travel to Buenos Aires by Boat

Buenos Aires is a riverside city with a historical and everyday relationship with water. The Río de la Plata — the widest river in the world — has always lapped at its shores and remains a genuine connection route with Uruguay and the wider region. Arriving in Buenos Aires by boat or ferry is a different and thoroughly recommended experience, particularly for those travelling from Montevideo or Colonia del Sacramento. The port terminals are centrally located and well-served.

Buenos Aires is also a growing cruise destination. Each year, dozens of cruise ships from Europe, North America and the Mediterranean make a stop in the port of Buenos Aires, typically as part of South American itineraries that include Montevideo, Rio de Janeiro and Ushuaia.
